Not recommended because a lot of extension cords are not heavy duty, are not rated for high amps and will get hot/melt/fire if used. Tesla says the mobile connector will pull 12A when using the 5-15 adapter. Since this is a continuous load you should use an extension cord that is rated for more than 12A, such as 15+A.

In theory, you should be looking for a 15 amp, 120 volt, 12 gauge extension cord. However, lengths over 25' have been hit and miss with a 0% success rate for anything over 50'. I suspect it's the wiring in the wall in combination with the extension cord that is causing the Tesla to refuse to charge.
